When I heard you were gone, I admit I was scarred,
You were taken too soon and it didn't seem fair,
I didn't know what to do, and it was so far away,
I regret that I missed your funeral that day
I didn't know what to say when I heard the news,
And it was in the next state I didn't know what to do,
But you were a true friend and your memory stays,
And the times that we had, man, those were the days,
It's strange how things change, I know it'd be different,
Had I not drifted away from the ways of our friendship,
I've had some hardships, they have changed me somehow,
But, I know it'd be different if you were here now,
There's been a cloud in my mind and a scar on my heart,
You know, those things never came until we were apart,
I wouldn't know where to start if I saw you again,
I'd just be glad you were there, I'd be glad you're a friend,
You always knew what to say when life had me down,
And I'd give about anything if you were here now,
But I know that you've went on to a better place,
But, still, in my heart, your memory stays,
So, I'd just like to say thanks for the times that we had,
And I'd like you to know how much I miss you man,
So, in loving memory, to a friend who was true,
I've taken this time to write a poem for you.

don't be scarred
